Who was Laurel Wicks?
Laurel Elizabeth Wicks, originally from Cavour, South Dakota, pursued her education at Viterbo University and Western Technical College. Additionally, she attended Minnesota State College Southeast. Laurel graduated from Viterbo University with a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Studies and Marketing, followed by a Master of Business Administration in Ethical Leadership/Servant Leadership.
Beyond her academic achievements, Laurel was a multi-talented individual. As the owner of Stone Groove Salon, she practised as a cosmetologist. She also served as a massage and bodywork specialist at SpAH Lair LLC and worked as an account executive at Combined Worksite Solutions.
Laurel Wicks Accident: The Incident
Laurel Elizabeth Wicks, 47, was involved in a collision on Highway 35 around 2:45 p.m. According to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, Laurel Wicks was travelling north in her 2005 Honda Pilot when she struck the rear of a stopped dump truck near Mohawk Valley Road. The dump truck, operated by Bobby E. Bendel, 59, of La Crosse, had come to a halt as he was waiting to make a left turn into a driveway. The incident caused considerable damage to the left side of Wicks’ vehicle, trapping her inside. Unfortunately, Wicks did not survive the crash, and Vernon County Coroner Betty Nigh declared her deceased at the scene.
The incident prompted a prolonged closure of Highway 35, during which the Wisconsin State Patrol’s Technical Reconstruction Unit conducted an investigation. The dump truck, being a commercial vehicle, underwent a standard post-crash inspection. The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the details surrounding the event.
