Her culinary journey began at the age of 9, as she worked alongside her mother, peeling potatoes and cutting onions. Inspired by her mother’s ability to create delicious meals with just a few ingredients, Fatima discovered the passion that would fuel her own culinary adventures.

In 2020, Fatima expanded her reach by launching her YouTube channel, which now has 167,000 subscribers. The following year, she and her sister, Gadija, made their television debut with the cooking show “Kaap, Kerrie & Koesisters” on Via (DStv 147), which ran successfully for six seasons. This show later inspired the book “Cape, Curry, and Koesisters,” published in both English and Afrikaans by NB Publishers. Fatima Sydow also authored two more books: “Fatima Sydow Cooks” and “Fatima Sydow, Cape Malay Cooking.”
