Known for his dedication to both his profession and his loved ones, Anthony was cherished as a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, with the support of his close circle throughout his brave battle and his untimely passing.

Anthony’s journey began in southern California, where he spent his formative years. His thirst for knowledge and adventure led him to Northern California, where he pursued higher education at Humboldt State University. During his time there, Anthony not only excelled academically but also found his passion for service as a volunteer firefighter.
Joining the Arcata Fire District, Anthony fully immersed himself in his role, becoming a cornerstone of the firefighting community. His dedication and leadership saw him rise through the ranks, eventually becoming the President of Firefighters’ Local 4981. Anthony’s contributions to the community were numerous, from spearheading projects to responding to emergency calls with unwavering commitment.

Firefighter Anthony passed away after bravely fighting job-related cancer twice. Despite his courageous battle, he peacefully departed, leaving behind a wife and a 4-year-old daughter who cherished him deeply. The Arcata Professional Firefighters Local 4981 shared the news of his passing on their Facebook page, underscoring the impact of his life and service within the firefighting community.
GoFundMe: Supporting Anthony’s Family
The Sacramento Area Firefighters Benevolent Fund is organising a fundraiser on a GoFundMe page titled “In Memory of Anthony Benelisha” to support Anthony’s family during this challenging period. Anthony, who tragically passed away, had made some plans for his family’s future, but many of these arrangements are still pending. This leaves his wife and young daughter with limited financial resources as they navigate the uncertain road ahead.
Donations to the fundraiser will not only contribute to giving Anthony a deserving memorial but also ensure that his family’s immediate needs, such as meals, bills, and other expenses, are taken care of. So far, $15,525 USD has been raised out of the $100,000 target through the generous contributions of 157 donors.
